Experimental Reinforcements
Today I've got the reinforcements for the Experimental keyword to add to the McMourning collection - these are all on resin bases from Fenris. I started with the Surgical Staff box - which I mostly got for Rafkin:
This sinister embalmer was simple to assemble.
The box also includes a trio of Guild Autopsies:
Although not well-rated by Malifaux players, these miniatures are really fun (for reanimated corpses) so I'm glad to have them in the collection!
Finally the box includes a pair of Nurses - I'd already got two for McMourning's crew so these I based in my normal way to use as part of the Asylum keyword with Dr Grimwell:
These two were a little fiddly - but not too bad overall.
I also assembled the Stitched and Sewn box - starting with the pair of Kentauroi:
These were really easy to put together - the spear and arms were the trickiest parts, but even they were easy enough.
Finally for the keyword there is the trio of Little Gassers:
These undead Gremlins weren't as bad as I initially feared when I saw the sprue! Some of the gas cloud bits were less than cooperative when gluing but I think they look good when done.
That finishes off McMourning's keyword so I've got maximum flexibility when picking a crew for him!

Tuco and Dr McMourning's new pet
I've prepped the final Half Blood keyword option - Tuco. A really easy model to assemble, the trickiest part is the horns and hat are separate (not as bad as it sounds, but a little fiddly as it's a fairly small piece):
I've also assembled the Rogue Necromancy (alt) to add to the McMourning crew - that crew came to me on scenic bases (Secret Weapon from what I can work out), but I found a suitable range by Fenris that is close enough to fit in well!
This was a bit tricky - the way the head(s) and back pieces fit together took some doing, but thankfully plastic glue is forgiving if you work quickly!!

Septus Caemia, Returned from Tartarus
When learned men speak of the undead most know only of the skeletons raised by the Necromancers or the stories of lemures haunting the living. But there is one being that has been encountered in recent times - not truly living nor dead, but something in between.
Septus Caemia was once a legionary in the great armies of Rome - but they were no hero; they gambled, killed for sport, held the gods in contempt and finally they betrayed their fellow legionaries when they deserted somewhere in Parthia. Soon enough they were found, killed by bandits and left in a ditch to rot - an ignominious end to an thoroughly unpleasant person.
Caemia found no rest in death - Tartarus awaited... but something happened and instead of the punishment that was due the legionary found themselves in Anatolia; physically changed but as wicked as ever they were in life.
As the powers wage their war in the shadows Caemia now works alongside the most desperate and degenerate warbands - its thirst for gold and violence seemingly unquenchable.
Septus Caemia, Returned from Tartarus
Auxiliary: Demigod
Light Armour, Tower Shield
Fearsome
Shield Drill
Shield Wall
Shade-made-Flesh (at the start of every turn, before the Initiative Phase, roll d10 - 1-5 this model has Intangible, 6-10 this model has Undead for the duration of this turn)

This is Septus Caemia - Undead Legionary from Fenris Games. As with others I've posted, I view the Demigod as an option to represent all sorts of powerful warriors - why and how did Septus return from Tartarus? That's a question only the gods know the answer to...

Fenris Games triple bill
I've spread my hobby funds around this period and one of the first I knew I wanted to buy from was Fenris Games.
I knew I needed something to use as a Sacred Ground scenery piece for Saga Age of Magic for one or more of the armies I have for it - I spotted the Spiral Glyph Stones set (4 pieces) and thought this could work superbly for Albainn, but also for Érainn if I don't get a better idea! When done it will also work well for Broken Legions too, as well as other fantasy games no doubt!
I took a picture with old Flavius from my Broken Legions collection as he was to hand:
I'll arrange these on an MDF base of a suitable size with some ground texturing. If I'm careful with the tufts/grass choices it could work well-enough in a range of our games.
I know that I want some columns for games like Broken Legions and Mortal Gods so picked up a pack of Scrolltop Doric columns as a taster. I have no doubt that I'll end up getting more from Fenris' extensive column range! Flavius again serves as a guide to scale:

Not entirely sure how to approach using these - but I am sure they'll prove useful once I get my thinking cap on!
Finally for this order I added the Rubble City caryatid columns (square) - these are really nice. I plan to put these on suitable MDF bases and keep them quite simple. Like the other columns these'll work great for Broken Legions and Mortal Gods - but could have other uses depending on where future projects take me! Here's Flavius striking a pose with them:

Hmm, think a ruined bit of roof section would make a nice bit of difficult ground to place between the two columns... Fenris stuff always has me thinking!
As these items were all available in stock they came quick - and as you can see only minimal clean up is required. All of them were great value too, so I can definitely recommend them.

Fenris Games - Celtic Tall Cross
Back a while I picked up the Celtic Tall Cross from the awesome Fenris Games - well I finally painted it up:
I kept it really simple - the incredible texture on Fenris Games pieces does all the hard work and looks good with simple dry-brushing. I added a couple of tufts to the base - I use these on all my Irish armies so it'll fit in with Saga, Darklands, The Pikeman's Lament or anything else I play set in Ireland!
I can't recommend Fenris Games highly enough - please do consider having a browse and placing an order (and no, I'm not on commission - I just really admire what Fenris puts out!)

Fenris Games - Drystone Walls
I've been in a bit of a painting funk recently - I'd been painting a lot of bases mud/sand to keep going but I wasn't in a painting mode. I looked at my primed stash and thought the rather excellent Drystone Walls from Fenris Games would make for a good way back into the swing of things. The incredible textures in these pieces would lend themselves to washes and drybrushes and help give me a sense of accomplishment when they were all done. Here they are:
I had primed them with some cheap sandstone/beige, so just used a wash and a half of diluted Soft Tone Army Painter wash and then drybrushed with Skeleton Bone (again Army Painter). Really simple, but really effective (I think) to get these table-ready. They are really verstaile pieces which will find use in a lot of games - I was so happy with them I thought I'd have a bit of fun!
Irish Rebels take shelter
Shadowpaw's Company await their next victim...
I really recommend Fenris Games - and these walls are the best I've seen; they make even novice painters like me look a lot better than I am!

Fenris Games - Walls and Panels
I was so impressed with my last order from Fenris, as soon as funds allowed I placed another order - I knew that I wanted a set of their Drystone Walls so picked up the set and some curved walls:
Straight walls
Connectors - these will allow for all sorts of layouts!
Curved wall sections
These are absolutely phenomenal quality - here's a close up of the stonework so you can see what I mean:
These walls are really versatile - I'll certainly be using them for games like Chosen Men, Frostgrave and The Pikeman's Lament amongst others.
I also spotted the range of panels Fenris offers as part of their Lost Shores scenery range. These are cast from antique plaster copies of panels from the Temple of Apollo at Bassae! I picked up two that I intend to use in some way for scenery for Broken Legions and Mortal Gods.
I went for (top) Lapiths versus Centaurs and (bottom) Queen Melanippe and the Truce. The detail is exquisite in these - I can see myself investing in the others in the range!
Given the situation at the moment with COVID-19 and other issues, if you are minded to buy some Fenris stuff it might be worth buying future you a gift voucher! Please check out and support Fenris Games if you haven't already - it's truly a gem in the wargaming world.

Fenris Games - Miniatures and Scenery
I'd long admired the products of Fenris Games but with one thing or another just hadn't made any purchases. Well, a while ago I backed their KS for The Cauldron Warband - a rather foul, nasty and awesome set of plague-themed fantasy miniatures.
Unfortunately funds were tight at the time, so I could only really spring for a single miniature - Septus Caemia, Undead Legionary:
I intend to use them as a Demigod mercenary for Broken Legions. The sculpt has just the right amount of detail and the pose is fitting for my intended use too. It's a single piece casting and had minimal flash etc to clean up. All in all a really nice mini!
When it came time for the pledge manager I had a bit more spare cash so decided to pick up a scenic piece I'd been eyeing for a while - the Celtic Tall Cross.
It's a tall piece, almost 3 2/4" tall. I think it'll make a perfect objective marker for the various games I have involving Irish forces - especially Saga and Darklands.
The quality of the sculpt and the cast are both top-notch. I'm hoping to pick up more resin scenery from Fenris when funds allow!
Fenris have all sorts of things that would work for games I have - columns for Broken Legions/Mortal Gods, bits for Gaslands, 3D printed pieces that are pefect for Gangs of Rome/Carnevale. So much good stuff; I really recommend you check them out!
