Zit Turnip - Goblin Highwayman

"Stand and deliver, ya munny or ya life...ya gits!" is the infamous cry of Zit Turnip, the vicious goblin highwayman.  Inspired by the pistol-wielding human robbers that have begun to plague travellers and merchants on the Empire's roads, Zit decided to try his hand at a spot of robbin' and lootin'.  It didn't go too well at first; most coaches had guards able to see off a runty goblin waving a sharp stick.

Zit decided he needed some of those new-fangled pistols that the humans had - eventually he got lucky, coming across a camp made by two highwaymen and he was able to make off with a brace of black powder pistols before the humans had even woken up.

With his new weapons Zit saw a change in his fortunes - humans soon learnt to fear the goblin highwayman!

This is the only survivor of an ill-fated order of ShortWars goblins - from the start he was earmarked to join the Agency however, so whilst the rest are long-gone, Zit will get to seek infamy and fortune on the tabletop!

Gobzalo Pizarro's Conquistagobs

I came across the ShortWars range and couldn't resist the brilliant sculpts - the goblins in particular caught my eye! I think they'll work great for an En Garde! force and while I've probably got too many I couldn't choose what to leave out so decided to prep them all!

First up, the leader, Captain Gobzalo Pizarro himself:

He's armed with dual pistols and sports a mean 'tache.

Here we have (L-R) Lorenzo de Aragon, the wealthy patron of the Conquistagobs, and Hernando the Mad, Gobzalo's right hand goblin (and all round psychopath):

Next up are some hired foreign bodyguards, Konrad (with the hammer) and Heinz (with the sword):

Here are (L-R) Father Salvador, Beatriz and Alvaro:

Now on to the rank and file conquistagobs! First the sword and buckler-armed (L-R) Benito, Carlos, Felipe, Esteban, Hernán and Mateo:

And rounding out the warband, the musketgoblins (L-R) Sancho, Jorge, Hector, Garci, Diego and Alonso:

The sculpts (by Kev Adams) are superb; full of character without being over the top on the detail.  I negotiated a special bundle price and received a few bonus items including the minis for Father Salvador and Beatriz.

O:WiC - Mercenaries!

As part of Operation Winter is Coming I've prepped and based some mercenaries for a few of the games in the collection.  First up is Onkólithos, a Cyclops for Broken Legions:

It turns out (with a bit more detailed digging) that this sculpt was done by Bob Olley for Ral Partha (as part of the Crucible line).  It's a big mini and a nice chunk of lead.

Next up is William de Chartres, a nasty mercenary foot knight without morals for Outremer:

Like some of the other metals in my Outremer collection this one is from Crusader Miniatures.  It's a nice simple mini with a classic attacking pose.

Finally we have Zit Turnip, a goblin highwayman for Mordheim:

This little chap came as a freebie when I ordered a warband from the ShortWars range.  It's a mad sculpt with a shock of spiky hair - but he'll fit in well with my eclectic collection of mercenaries for Mordheim.
