Valdnar Bronzebristles - Dwarf Ironbreaker

Valdnar is an Ironbreaker and proud of it.  He was fighting against Night Goblins of the Iron Moon tribe when he became separated from his comrades by a cave-in.  Following the only path he could find, Valdnar tracked the goblins for weeks until he surfaced in a ruined blacksmith's – clearly of Dwarven origin.

Valdnar looked around; the smith's was in a human city, but the buildings were ruined, there was a foul stench of death and the sound of fighting could be heard from a dozen armed clashes.  If there was a secret tunnel between this hellscape and the underground home of his people, he would need to protect it to prevent harm to his clan!

To my tastes Marauder had the best Dwarf minis - I acquired him purely because I wanted an Ironbreaker in the Hireling Agency!

Fhealtóir the Grey - Elven Renegade

Fhealtóir the Grey is an enigmatic elf. He owes no fealty to the High Elves of Ulthuan, he claims no kinship with the Wood Elves of Athel Loren and he will never bend knee to the Dreadlords of Naggaroth.

He is his own master; he goes where his whim takes him and he fights with, and against, whoever he chooses. Witnesses have seen him fighting alongside the men of Reikland in one battle, then in another he stands with the forces of Sylvania. He is a skilled warrior, but his moral code is ambiguous at best.

This is a long OOP Marauder Miniatures Dark Elf command figure, but I’ve got enough Dark Elves in the hireling agency so made this chap’s backstory a bit more ambiguous.

Fabian Von Oosthuizen - Marienburger Mercenary

A flamboyant mercenary from wealthy Marienburg, Fabian is pompous, over-dressed and utterly ridiculous in manner and appearance. Those that judge him too quickly don't get to live to regret it; his skill with his finely crafted spear has claimed many a man's life for even the slightest insulting comment or disrespectful glance.

This is a Marauder Miniatures Fighter Command mini that I decided was flashy enough to represent the new money of Marienburg.

Drobov - Ostlander Mercenary

Hailing from the tough province of Ostland, the mercenary known as Drobov claims to be an ogre, but those who have met one of that race before cannot believe it; he's just not big enough.  Oh, he's bigger than most men that's for certain, but compared to an Ogre he's just, well, short.

Some have suggested that Drobov is some kind of half-Ogre – a product of some unlikely dalliance between two drunken Ostlanders of differing species.  Others think he's just a man, a hulking, ugly man, but still a man.

Drobov has travelled with other mercenaries from his province and will sell his strength of arm and his trusty two-handed battle axe to the highest bidder.

Drobov is a Marauder Miniatures ogre - but due to scale creep he is loads smaller than the plastic Ogre Kingdoms miniatures, so I decided to go a bit ambiguous on his true nature for his background.

Dolthal the Bold - Dwarf Adventurer

An intrepid adventurer, a doughty warrior, a drunken brawler and a gold-hungry mercenary.  All of these could be used to describe the dwarf known as Dolthal the Bald.  When asked to describe himself, Dolthal simply says “Ten crowns a battle, twenty if you've got pointy-eared friends”.

Dolthal here is a Marauder Miniatures command group mini.  Like pretty much every Marauder Miniatures dwarf sculpt it is, simply put, perfect! (can you tell I like that range?)
