Special Ops Task Force Sigma Black

One of the houses that control the largest settlement in the Sector, Smedrock,  House Van Saar still finds it necessary to have at its disposal a resource to deply against any threats to its position of strength - even those arising from the other members of the tripartite agreement in Smedrock.

Masters of industrial espionage and sabotage, the men of Special Ops Task Force Sigma Black (more commonly called just Sigma Black) do the things that the leadership of the House deems necessary to maintain - and strengthen - the power and influence of the Van Saar within Smedrock and the wider Sector B67.

Back in the first edition of Necromunda I had a Van Saar gang - I think it was inevitable they would be the first of my Necromunda gangs I'd collect and paint all these years later.  I got a few converted minis from a Canadian guy several years ago - well hopefully I'll roll lots of Specialist skills and get to use some of these reinforcements from 'North Hive'.

Here's the Leader - Alpha One (or Alpha X if I go the plasma-maniac version):

Alpha One is the second Van Saar leader mini - but I gave him a sword from some IG sprue or another as there's a couple of other chainswords in this gang.  The plasma guy was converted from the Pit Slave Techno model and came from North Hive to Sector B67.

One of my favourite minis in any Necromunda gang is the heavy - here are (L-R) Beta One, Beta X and Beta Two:

Beta One and Beta X are pretty standard - although One gets an added autogun as a back up.  Beta Two is a nod to my old Van Saar heavy, who carried around an old metal Squat heavy bolter.  Think he's had a bit of an upgrade these days!

Of course, any gang needs some gangers (L-R) Gamma Five, Gamma Four and Gamma Nine:-

Pretty standard, although they've had some minor kit added (IG swords, SM scout pouches and Five has a small SM scout shoulder pad to make him a little more different from Nine).

Next up are (L-R) Gamma Seven, Gamma Eight, Gamma Three and Gamma Six:-

These guys show off my plan to have every mini have some kind of visor or breather or bionic eye or similar.

Now, the eagle-eyed of you will be wondering where the original Van Saar leader model is - well here he is, Gamma One, with his friend from North Hive, Gamma Two:-

Either of these will also serve well as a cheaper leader option if I don't want to spend those creds on a special weapon.

Naturally, you have to have some fodder juves (especially for that heavy-buddying role I can't seem to shake when using them).  Here are (L-R) Delta One, Delta Two, Delta Three and Delta Four:-

They've all had some kind of weapon swap - internet points for anyone that names the changes!

Finally, (and mostly from North Hive) we have some minis with special weapons for lucky Specialist rolls or if I fancy going lightweight-heavies.

There's sniper, grenade launcher and flamer options (and rumours about Flamer-guy being at least part-Eldar are absolutely 100% true).  And yes, that's a cyber-mastiff in case Sigma Black gets rich (using Anthony Case's Attack Pet rules) - of course, he is called Kappa Nine.

After a couple of false-starts I'm glad I pushed through and got these guys finished.  I think their look fits the fluff I devised for them.
