The
sprawling area of the underhive officially known as Sector B67 has
many important trade routes to get the valuable archeotech and
minerals uphive – this means it attracts more than its fair share
of fortune-seekers, the desperate and the criminal-minded.
The number of people of all types (and even many species) passing through the sector has made the average denizen more open-minded and tolerant than most in the Imperium - of course House Cawdor and their Redemptionist allies aren't too happy about that situation, but the Guilders see the value in the rather cosmopolitan make-up of the Sector so work through their Watchmen to maintain the status quo.
Settlements
B67 has many settlements dotted across the Sector, here are some of the main ones:
Smedrock
The
largest settlement in the Sector, built on a warren of exhausted
mines, making the township prone to hivequakes. Presided over by a
tripartite trade agreement between Houses Goliath, Orlock and Van
Saar, Smedrock is fairly safe by Necromundan Underhive standards and
hosts the precinct house of K2 Command, the local enforcers.
The Abbey
Settlement
and local stronghold of House Cawdor. Rumoured to be a starting
point for many Redemptionist Crusades. The one area of the Sector that xenos and non-B67ers quickly learn to avoid at all costs.
Depot X
The
biggest, busiest trading spot in the Sector outside of Smedrock,
Depot X has weaponsmiths, bars, gambling dens, rat burger joints and
much more. It's an open secret that Depot X is the centre of the Sector's black market - so if you want to shift items you might have acquired less than legally this is the right place.
Grimview
A
settlement built on some of the tallest structures in the Sector,
Grimview is a holding of House Delaque, who rule the myriad gantries
that link the structures with an iron fist. The rulers of Grimview have their sights set on toppling the rules of Smedrock but are nothing if not patient.
MacArthur
An
Escher-held settlement named after an ancient hero of that House,
MacArthur is famed across the Sector for its long-standing history of manufacturing industries.
The Cut
A
settlement formed around the only reliable toll bridge across the
sludge canal that runs through the Sector. The Guilder clan that runs The Cut is very wealthy and employs guard armed to their teeth to protect their interests.
Rude End
A
nest of outlaws and criminals and the hideout for the bands of
runaway slaves that have fled the Guilders in the Sector. Anyone and anything can start a new life in Rude End.
The Tip
A
giant heap of trash that has existed longer than even the oldest
resident of the Sector can remember, the Tip is surrounded by a
shanty town of the poorest people in the Sector. Like clockwork,
once a week, tonnes of new waste fall from the heights of the dome
that houses the Tip, adding to the pile.
Facilities, Businesses and Features
Of course, there are many other attractions to B67 that prospective gang leaders might find of use:
Allbright's
Specialists
in extracting chemicals from all manner of flora, fauna and minerals.
Rumours persist that Allbright's is the centre of the drug trade in
the Sector.
Mitch & Butla's
A
huge water still farm that produces almost 80% of the water needed in
the Sector. Mitch and Butla are retired gang members from the old days and will fight viciously to protect
their stills – a fact attested to by the number of grisly displays
of trespassers' heads that mark the boundary of the Mitch & Butla's
territory.
The Pond
The
stinkiest sump pools in the Sector form a congealed mass of rancid,
toxic effluence. Naturally, the degenerates known as Scavvies
congregate in the more remote parts, planning attacks against the
settlements of the Sector.
Hellwind Vents
These
air vents and tunnels, situated on the far border of the Sector, are
avoided by all right-minded underhivers. The gusts of wind seem to howl
and moan dire warnings to all who come near.
Ol' Sparky
This
generator hub is the central source of power within the Sector.
Heavily guarded by a rota of gangs drawn from the main settlements in
the area, Ol' Sparky is a favoured target of outlaws.
Mr Singh
An
otherwise unremarkable nomadic rat burger operation, Mr Singh is the
centre of the Sector's network of runaway slaves. He'll take in
escaped slaves and drop them off in Rude End – a settlement that
holds Mr Singh in particularly high regard.
The Patch
The
single biggest fungus farm in the Sector. The families that run the
Patch have begun a campaign of hostilities against each other as they
vie for full control of the farm.
The Red Milliasaur
An
infamous bar with a strained relationship with the local Enforcers,
but always a hit with the locals, The Red Milliasaur is the place to
go for rumours, gossip, hired guns and the best Wildsnake in
Smedrock.
The Hireling Agency
A
shadowy organisation that brokers deals between hired guns of
distinction and the various local gangs and factions. Based in the
bustling Depot X.
