The Barbarians - getting started

Finally (for now... I keep getting tempted to write rules for a Nubian/Kushite warband!) we have the Barbarians for Broken Legions.  Now, given my preference for Irish/Celtic options in other games you'd think I'd have gone that kind of direction here - well I took a detour somewhere in modern-day France and instead went for a Gaul themed warband.  You can probably blame that on my love of Asterix (and Obelix of course).  Anyway, as with most of the other warbands, it's easy to grab a sprue (in this case Warlord Games Celtic Warriors) and a couple of metals of choice and make a force:

The 'Tribal Chieftain' is the leader of a Barbarian force in Broken Legions - so here's Orgetorix the Great with his warhounds (L-R) Cintus and Allos:

This mini is Warlord's Vercingetorix (his shield will be added later!) and the hounds come from the Mastiff Packmaster blister (their cousin seems to have turned traitor and joined the Romans though...).

Next we have the rest of the heroes for the warband - (L-R) Adnamati the Brave (Tribal Champion), Carino the Strong (Tribal Champion) and Vitousurix the Wild (Druid):

These came from a helpful blister-splitter - which was good as I didn't like the third miniature in the Chieftains pack from Warlord and I only needed one of the Druids!

Of course, you always need some henchman - here are the mainstay Warrior options (L-R) Vocagni, Balatonux and Albic:

These guys have been given light armour and in the cases of the plastic minis Celtic Lances for a bit of ranged firepower in a pinch.

I made up another couple of Warrior options, there are (L-R) Borso and Epos

Borso has a couple of javelins and Epos is a cheap filler guy.

The Barbarian list has quite a few options for units and as the sprue has so many topless torsos I thought I'd include some Berserkers for some punch.  These are (L-R) Remico, Victi and Licno:

Victi got a weapon swap from a spear to a sword but otherwise all the plastic minis were made without conversion.  I have to say, this sprue sucks. The torso to leg connection makes a lot of combinations look like they are bent double and the hollow hands on some of the minis meant I ran out of torso options without them looking like they are throwing some ancient Gaul gang sign or something.  Nevermind, I'm still happy with the list I was able to put together.

I'd like a Huntman or two to help the Barbarians pin down opposing warbands, but will need to find someone splitting a blister as I don't need a full pack!
