Snake-Eyes Slick - Gunner

A former agent of House Delaque, Snake-Eyes Slick now works as a freelance gunner and works for other gangs. He fights with his favoured shotgun and his long coat conceals many pockets full of different ammo types – he is infamous for grabbing shells at random, loading and firing without even checking!

But this slightly madcap act is just a front – he still feeds info back to his House and gangs that worked with him often find themselves ambushed weeks later by sinister Delaque operatives.

I ended up with a duplicate of this mini and as it's a single-piece casting it doesn't lend itself to any easy conversions so Slick joined the Hireling Agency while his twin joined The Wiseguys!

Smelly Pete (and his Creepy Crawlies) - Wyrd: Beastmaster

A Beastmaster with a particular affinity for the invertebrate fauna of Sector B67, Smelly Pete is always accompanied by his pet 'Creepy Crawlies' (Milliasaurs) which he has a particular fondness for.

When not working, Pete can be found cuddled up with his pets which treat anyone else as food. He has great difficulty communicating with humans; he says they are unnecessarily complicated compared to the insects, arachnids and other invertebrates he prefers.

Pete is one of the original Beastmasters - his Creepy Crawlies are Tyranid rippers (which I use as Millisaurs in B67)

Shas'ui Clearsky - Tau Pathfinder

The Tau Empire is tolerated by the Imperium in the same way as abhumans, Blood Axes and Eldar: good for trade but to be destroyed without mercy whenever necessary.

This semi-acceptance has led to Tau diplomats having residencies on the major worlds of the Imperium. Necromunda is no exception. A Fire Warrior pathfinder team accompanied an Earth Caste scientist downhive on a joint expedition with representatives of House Helmawr.

Disaster struck the Tau-Human band and the only survivor was the Shas'ui known as Clearsky. Unable to return uphive following the death of the Helmawr operatives, Clearsky now works in Sector B67, selling his skills with his unique weaponry to gang and Guilder alike.

My 40k has a less xenophobic vibe than official canon so wanted the major alien races represented - I have Orks and Eldar, so thought it would be fun to include a Tau in the Hireling Agency.  One second hand eBay purchase later and here's Clearsky.

Scrap Ed - Heretek

Scrap Ed is an unrepentant Heretek. He will happily ignore all of even the most basic tenets of the Machine Cult – he'll bodge, jury-rig, meddle, hack, tweak and 'improve' whatever technology he can get his grubby hands on.

Ed carries all many of gadgets and gizmos; not even he is really sure what some of them do! He'll fire up what he claims is a forcefield generator, only to discover it is an archeotech nose-hair trimmer.

Ed here is the Brains mini from the Last Chancers.  I added some part of a Guard rebreather (I think) to his wrist to give him an extra gadget to fit his background. The sunglasses made me think of Vector from Battle Angel Alita/Gunm.

The Sarge - Brawler

The fighter known as The Sarge claims to hail from the Death Planet Catachan, where he fought in the celebrated Jungle Warriors regiment of the Imperial Guard. For a shot of Wildsnake he'll retell one of his many stories from life in the Guard; favourites include him leading his squad to victory over a band of savage Orks and the tall-tale of how he lost his eye (a long-winded yarn involving a run in with a particularly cruel Commissar).

The truth is a little different... he is actually a former clerk from the Adeptus Administratum who fled downhive following a data input error... and his eye? A painful accident involving a dataslate stylus.

This is an old one piece metal Catachan Sergeant that I picked up just to add to the Hireling Agency.

Sammy the Sumper - Ratling Sniper

Every so often one of the abhumans known as Ratlings finds their way downhive.

Sammy the Shadow is one such abhuman. A cheerful and amiable chap, Sammy is a skilled sumper; he's a natural hunter with his sniper's eye and an even better chef – just ask anyone that has tried his Milliasaur Jambalaya!

Although small in stature, Sammy has a proud heart and is a fiercely loyal comrade when he is employed by a gang.

Sammy is a 2nd edition Ratling.  His background is inspired by Swamp People, just because we like that show!

Ripper Rico - Pit Slave

A former champion of the pit fights of Rude End, Ripper Rico had retired undefeated. While most Pit Slaves could only dream of such an idyliic existance, Rico soon grew bored – he still craved the thrill of combat.

Seeking a new challenge, Rico now hires himself out to gangs seeking an edge in close combat. Rico views each battle as a fresh test of his skills and eagerly awaits the day he meets his match in combat.

I have all the Pit Slaves, but they are earmarked for an Escaped Pit Slave gang and I knew I wanted one in the Hireling Agency so I kitbashed one from a spare Chaos Marauder, a Sentinel Chainsaw, an Ork shoulderpad, an old school laspistol and some random bionic bits to augment Rico.  I'm pretty happy with the result.

Rembrandt - Scum

Rembrandt once belonged to House Van Saar, but his attitude never gelled with his comrades. Where they were serious, he was irreverant; where they were patient, he was brash.

No one was surprised when Rembrandt eventually left his House and he now plies his trade from Rude End as a scummer.

I gave Rembrandt a green suit as a nod to the classic 'Eavy Metal scheme - as my own Van Saar gang wears grey I thought it'd differentiate him (even more than the bare arms and bandana do!) .

Queenie - Gunner

A legend amongst House Escher, Queenie claims to be descended from a great hero of that House, MacArthur. She went freelance purely for the hell of it – she still maintains ties to her former House, although she will give them no quarter should they meet in battle; how better to keep the Escher strong?

With her red hair and outlandish fashions, Queenie brings to mind the famed warrior queens of such wild planets as Boudicca II and Shang-Xiang. Queenie is an eccentric character and a skilled fighter, especially with her sword.

This is the Warrior Woman mini from the Last Chancers set.

Private Pike - Gunner

A deserter from the PDF, the desperate man known as Private Pike now fights for whoever will pay his fee.

The irony is that Private Pike deserted to flee the violence and danger of a military life. Quickly realising that he could never return to his old life, Pike headed to Rude End and ekes out a living selling his skills, such as they are, to anyone who will see him fed.

I came up with the idea for a deserter hired gun and then picked up this Armageddon Steel Legion guardsman, which is one of my favourite ranges of the metal IG.

Octus (Ran Lo) - Runaway Noble

A runaway noble from House Ran Lo, Octus fled the Spire and his oppressive family to seek a new life of adventure and freedom.

What Octus found was a desperate, dangerous life where every moment might be his last – and he has never felt so alive!

Hiring himself out to gangs, Octus is determined to wring maximum experience out of every second of his existance.

This is one of the old single-piece metal Space Marine Scouts that I picked up on a whim!

Necuratu - Sniper

A sniper and killer beyond compare, the origins of the man known only as Necuratu are a mystery. He speaks little and keeps himself to himself between battles – sometimes even disappearing for days although he always seems to return when he is needed.

The reality would surprise everyone in B67 – not least Necuratu himself! Necuratu suffers from amnesia, he cannot remember anything of his previous life – although he has certainly retained his skills: he was once a member of the Officio Assassinorum!

This mini is, of course, a Vindicare Assassin.  I'd originally picked it up to use as a Van Saar leader, but when I decided not to go that route I came up with a fun backstory and recruited him into the Hireling Agency!

Narth the Beast - Beastman Fighter

A decorated veteran from the abhuman conscripts, Narth was one of the few who were discharged honourably from duty in the Guard.

Sadly, his distinguished service to the Imperium hasn't earned him the respect of humans. He drifted from place to place, undertaking menial duties for scraps of food. He eventually fell in with a Rogue Trader, Rozalin IX, and accompanied her to Necromunda. There, he found his way downhive, where he had heard that anyone could escape and start a new life.

While he found a certain level of acceptance amongst the rough and ready people of Sector B67, Narth soon fell back on his combat skills gained in the abhuman legions and now scrapes a living acting as a mercenary.

This is one of the Imperial Beastmen sculpted by Jes Goodwin - I think Forgeworld's Gor Half-Horn is a tribute to this classic sculpt.

Muscles McGee - Scum

A former member of House Goliath, Muscles McGee still favours the fashions and trappings of his former House, even though it has been several years now since he went rogue.

Powerfully built, McGee received his somewhat mocking nickname due to his distinct lack of intellect – it is said that he struggles to work his own Plasma Pistol!

This is one of the original Scummer minis from Citadel - I still wish they had done Scum minis representing Cawdor and Escher.

Mover Gantz - Wyrd: Telekinetic

Gantz used to be a crane operator somewhere uphive, and he took great pride in the speed and efficiency with which he moved the giant industrial loads.

One shift Gantz was involved in a dreadful industrial accident. The trauma of this triggered his latent psyker abilities which manifested in line with his pride – he could now move things with his mind!

Fearing the authorities, Gantz fled downhive, eventually settling in The Cut in Sector B67 where he can be found by gangs seeking some mental muscle.

This is the original Telekinetic Wyrd miniature and I never liked it much, but in the metal it is a much nicer sculpt than it ever looked in pictures so I'm glad to have it in the B67 collection.

Mongrel - Genestealer Hybrid

While xenobiologists are well aware of the Genestealer menace, most of the people of the Imperium are ignorant of these insidious aliens.

Of course, Genestealer Cults exist in the hives of Necromunda, but most hide in the shadows waiting for the right moment to strike.

The creature known as Mongrel is considered to be a mutant by most he encounters, but the truth is far worse – he is a genestealer hybrid!

Mongrel here is one of the original Genestealer Hybrid miniatures, which I picked up purely to represent this aspect of 40k lore in B67. I deliberately went with an old school colour scheme for him, which I'm pretty happy with.

Metalplate Mike - Fighter

Metalplate Mike, so named for the steel plates that were used to patch up his head, is a skilled fighter and a loyal comrade.

Mike gained his scars and metal plates after a run in with a Scavvy band who sliced bits of his flesh off as a grim snack. Saved by a gang from House Orlock, Mike spent time running with that gang to pay them back for saving him. Mike still retains a good relationship with members of the House of Iron to this day.

I believer Mike here is an old Tech Ganger from the Confrontation days.  He ended up with a plastic Orlock Bolt Pistol arm and a Cadian chainsword arm as that's what I had that fitted him.

Lug Facepuncher - Ogryn

The towering brute known as Lug Facepuncher is one of the abhuman race known as Ogryn.

Descended from the Ogryn that were brought to Hive Primus to undertake heavy lifting and construction, Lug became a delinquent as a juve, running with a pack of human youths. Before long he found himself downhive, where his strength and size make him a popular hireling in Sector B67.

Lug here is, of course, a 2nd edition Ogryn from 40k.  Nice chunk of metal this one.

Tuesday 11 June 2019

Lucky Ace - Scum

Lucky Ace is a gambler first and a mercenery second. He'll place bets on anything; dice, cards, pit fights, Valhallan Roulette, anything. As far as Ace is concerned, anything and everything is a game.

Armed with his trusty pair of bolt pistols, Ace fights simply to earn enough credits to fuel his gambling habit.

Ace is a bits box creation; mostly Catachan stuff with a couple of extras.

Loco - Gunner

As mad as a shaken box of Ripper Jacks, Loco has undergone numerous chip implants in an attempt to 'fix' his issues; but some speculate these chips have done more harm than good.

A tough, allbeit insane warrior, Loco is well known across B67, particularly around Smedrock where he can often be found being 'rewired' after a fight.

This is from the Mercenaries range for Rogue Trader 40k - in that range he is known as Breakout Con.
