A Gaggle of Ghosts

When GW released that Mortal Realms partworks magazine the first issue (as always with these things) was heavily reduced to encourage you to start it up... well at the time I had no intention of doing Age of Sigmar, but the sprue of ghosts (I think GW give them the name 'Chainrasps') could be useful for special scenarios and other general shenanigans in games of Mordheim.

So, I dug out some of the last few square plastic bases and got them ready to paint a while ago.

But as part of the organising and the like I've been doing the last few days I dug them out and tried a slightly different paint style than the blue or green ghost paints that GW did (not a slur against those - I've done models in the blue and like how they turned out!) - I wanted a monochrome look like a lot of ghosts do on one of my wife's favourite shows, Supernatural.  So, on top of a white basecoat I used Vallejo Light Grey Wash... and I was very happy with the results, so much so I opted not to highlight at all - making these a pretty easy batch of minis to get done!  I painted the bases and any rocks/tombstones in my normal way and added the flock mix I use for all Mordheim stuff to place these spirits in the same world.

Anyway, here's the painted ghostly chaps - first up the bunch with maces:

And those with axes:

And finally the sword waving bedsheets:

I'm perfectly happy with how these turned out - exactly as I'd pictured in my mind's eye when I first decided to make them monochrome.  Sometimes keeping it simple really is the best option, eh?
